MASTER'S OF PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANCY
The Master's of Professional Accountancy program is designed for accounting, business and nonbusiness undergraduates seeking to become a Certified Public Accountant and make a career in the accounting profession. While the program focuses on the public accounting field, graduates will be prepared to seek employment in investment banks (e.g., mergers and acquisitions) and in corporate financial management positions. The program offers the specific courses required by the state of Maryland to sit for the CPA examination. To earn the MPA degree at Morgan State University, students will be required to complete a minimum of 30 credits at the graduate level. All students must meet certain business and accounting exposure requirements in order to qualify for masters level courses. Exposure requirements may be transferred from other qualified institutions. All students may have to take some exposure courses at the undergraduate level.

Pre-masters, core and professional track course requirements will be offered in the evenings to accommodate working students. Most business and accounting exposure courses will be offered both in the daytime and evenings in alternative semesters.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To be admitted to the MPA program, applicants must have an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale (conditional admission is available for applicants with GPAs between 2.75 and 3.0. A current score (score less than five years old) on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is also required. Applicants are also required to submit official transcripts from all institutions attended, three letters of recommendation, and a one-page personal statement of academic and professional plans.
The School of Graduate Studies welcomes students that are not citizens of the United States but who have appropriate documentation from the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) (including the I94 form) verifying their legal residence and/or student status in the United States. International students must have transcripts from foreign institutions evaluated by an education credentialing service. International applicants must not send any foreign transcripts or certificates to the School of Graduate Studies. In addition, applicants from non English speaking countries must submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). TOEFL scores are not required for applicants from the British Commonwealth, Australia, Canada, Great Britain, West Indies, New Zealand, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and Tanzania.
