Camnet Setup Guide for Windows NT

Quick links

Requirements
Before you get started in setting up your Camnet connection, also called your Ethernet connection, please be sure to have the following items:
  • A 10-baseT Ethernet card, this is available from the bookstore or most computer or office supply stores. Helpdesk recommends that you purchase a 3com network card, but other brand cards should work.
  • A 10-baseT Ethernet cable, any length will work fine but will effect the placement of the computer. In the dorms a 25 foot cable will be the easiest to work with.
Once you have all of the above you may begin.

Step 1 - Setting up and Configuring your Ethernet Card
Please consult the instructions that are included with your ethernet card. If you are unsure on how to install your card please call Helpdesk and a consultant will come out and help you.

Note: Due to policy, the Internet Consultant is not allowed to touch anything on the inside of your case but may advise you on how to install the card. Installing the card and/or following the advice of the Internet Consultant is AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Step 2 - Opening the Control Panel
Go to start, settings, and then Control Panel to open the Control Panel.

Step 3 - Opening the Network Control Panel
