Setting Up A TCP/IP Printer with DNS name. xxx.morgan.edu

Step 1

Click Start -> Settings -> Controll Panell

Open the Contol Panel

Step 2

Double click on the Printers icon

Double click on the Printers Icon

Step 3

Double click on the Add Printer icon, this will open the Add Printer Wizard

Add Printer

Step 4

Click the Next button

Click Next

Step 5

Check the Local printer radio button then click Next

Check Network Printer

Step 6

Click the Create a new port radio button and choose Standard TCP/IP Port from the Type list box then click Next.

Step 7

A new wizard should open up to add a standard TCP/IP Printer Port. Click Next to continue the new wizard

Step 8

Type in the printer name or IP address in the Printer Name or IP Address text field and the Port Name text field should automatically be filled in, if not type it in and click Next

Install drivers

Step 10

Check the Standard radio button and select Generic Network Card from the list box, then click Next

Set as default printer

Step 10

Click Finish to close off the wizard

Step 11

Select the printer Manufacturer and Printer from the respective Menu boxes then click Next

You're done

Step 12

If the driver is already installed Keep the existing driver other install the correct driver

 

Step 13

Type in the desired printer name in the Printer name text field or just leave the default name there. Check the Yes checkbox to set the printer as your default printer, then click Next

Step 14

Check the Do not sahre this printer checkbox then click Next

Step 15

Check the Yes checkbos to print a test page to ensure that everything was done successfully, then click Next

Step 16

The printer should now be successfully setup, so click Finish to close the wizard.

You should now have a screen similar to this
