Michelle Harris Bondima

Dr. Michelle Harris Bondima joined the Community College Leadership Doctorate Program in October 2011 as Statewide Coordinator. She received her PhD in science education concentrating on Environmental Science from the University of Maryland College Park; Master of Science in Environmental Science from The Johns Hopkins University; and BS in Biopsychology from University of Maryland Baltimore County. She also received certification from Oxford University, England, with the designated topic entitled, "Science and Faith: The Great Matter," Dr. Bondima was one of only 40 international scholars with a particular expertise and interest in this topic who were selected to participate in a symposium series for discussion of contemporary issues affecting science and faith. Prior to this appointment Dr. Bondima served as a faculty member and retired after 31 years in 2011 as Dean of Business, Health, Science and Mathematics from Baltimore City Community.
Dr. Bondima has been a Kellogg fellow in Developmental Education and has over 25 years of consultant experience with students in STEM programs as well as partnerships with community colleges and universities in Bioscience and community college leadership programs. Dr. Bondima is the Chairperson of the Office of Civil Rights and Wage Enforcement/Community Relations Commission, appointed by the former Mayors Kirk Schmoke, Martin O'Malley, Sheila Dixon and recently under the leadership of Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. Dr. Bondima serves on many STEM committees, also, she was appointed to the Maryland Commission of Climate Control by Governor Martin O'Malley.
