Dr. Allison  Yacoub



Dr. Allison Yacoub is active as a music educator and clarinetist within the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area. She has experience teaching applied clarinet, woodwind methods, and music theory at Morgan State University and Towson University. In demand as a woodwind adjudicator, she has also evaluated performances for the International Clarinet Association and the MTNA Eastern Division Competition.

Dr. Yacoub received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in clarinet performance from the University of Maryland, College Park and her undergraduate and graduate degrees in music education from Towson University.  Her clarinet teachers and mentors have included Ed Palanker, Dr. Marguerite Levin and Ed Walters.  

An avid researcher and performer, Dr. Yacoub continues to seek out and perform compositions for the clarinet that are influenced by non-Western European musical traditions, including those of Asia, the Middle East, and South America.  

Dr. Yacoub is also the owner of Allison's Clarinet Shop, and was an exhibitor and performer at the 2014 International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest held at Louisiana State University.
