Dr. Allison Yacoub
Dr. Allison Yacoub is active as a music educator and clarinetist within the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area. She has experience teaching applied clarinet, woodwind methods and music theory at Morgan State University and Towson University. In addition to teaching at the collegiate level, Dr. Yacoub has worked in the Baltimore and Howard County Public School Systems and the Park School of Baltimore.
In 2009 she served as a woodwind judge for the Baltimore County Solo and Ensemble Festival and the preliminary round of the International Clarinet Association High School Competition. Dr. Yacoub has also participated as a woodwind judge for the 2011 MTNA Eastern Division Competition.
Dr. Yacoub received her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Music Education from Towson University and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Clarinet Performance from The University of Maryland. Her past clarinet teachers have included Ed Palanker, Dr. Marguerite Levin and Ed Walters.
She continues to research and perform compositions for the clarinet that are influenced by non-Western European musical traditions, including those of Asia, the Middle East and South America.
