Our Publications

From our undergraduate students to our most senior faculty, the department believes in a culture of strengthening and sharing the work of scholars, writers and poets. Our publications are monuments to that culture, and they contribute to a rich and long-standing tradition of creative and intellectual work emerging from HBCUs.

Sable Quill

The Sable Quill is the student literary journal of the English & Language Arts department at Morgan State University. The journal is managed and edited by faculty in the program, and it features the work of undergraduate writers and poets.

The journal has been on a brief hiatus, but will return in Spring of 2018 with an online format. In addition to written work, it will feature photos, short films and other multimedia work from MSU students.

Zora Neal Hurston Forum

The official publication of the Zora Neale Hurston Society, established by MSU Professor Emerita Ruthe T. Sheffey, PhD.
