The Major in English and Language Arts
Whether it's a seminar in Renaissance studies, an advanced fiction-writing workshop, or filmmaking, journalism, animation, or a course in the African American novel, as a student in the Department of English and Language Arts at Morgan State University, you'll find yourself in a dynamic stimulating environment with knowledgeable professors.
The major in English requires a total of 54-60 credits, depending on the student's choice of concentration. The 33-credit CORE sequence includes courses in English, American, and African American literature, along with courses in literary criticism and the history of the English language. A six-credit foreign language sequence completes the core course program. Students may form concentrations in Literature and Language, Creative Writing, or Language Arts, and minors in Journalism, or Film and Digital Storytelling by choosing appropriate courses from designated Groups.
