Department of Economics

GOALS

The Department of Economics aspires to cultivate in students the economic literacy necessary to cope with the challenges inherent in an ever-changing world. The department strives to achieve the following goals through its mission:

1. Promote economic literacy
2. Increase the number of students that pursue economics as a major
3. Increase the number of non-major students who take upper level courses
4. Prepare its majors for graduate study or for careers in administration, banking, business, consulting, government, international relations, law, urban affairs, and other related fields of endeavor
5. Hire, retain and promote faculty with the right mix of experience and academic training
6. Promote effective learning through student participation
7. Build and sustain external relations with alumni, government and other constituents
