Marco Merrick, a Baltimore native, has been a Lecturer in Communication Studies since 2011. His career in communications and media spans nearly 30 years. He has been Director of Communications and Education in Maryland state agencies, including the departments of Planning; Business and Economic Development and Labor, Licensing and Regulation. He was also Chief of Staff for the Register of Wills in Baltimore City.
He has been a TV news and programming producer at both WJZ in Baltimore and WBZ in Boston. He produced and hosted “On the Pulse,” a local radio public affairs show which aired for 17 years on WCAO-AM radio. Merrick was the Performing Arts Coordinator for the MSU Fine Arts Department under Dr. Nathan Carter. His memberships include Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; the Board of Directors of the Maryland State Boychoir, the Nathan Carter Foundation and the President’s Committee for the MSU Choir. He is also a Trustee of the Walters Art Museum and is Chair of Trustees for the Open Church.
As an accomplished choral director and musician, Mr. Merrick founded the Community Concert Choir of Baltimore which was established to preserve and promote the sacred music of the African American Church.
