Relaxation Room

Are you feeling stressed out?

Are you having trouble relaxing in your own room?

Try our soothing Relaxation Room or Stress Reduction Room! Available to all students, faculty and staff.

Relaxation is an important part of taking good care of yourself. Few of us have much experience with real relaxation, which is a focused, intentional period of time when one is mindful and alert, and yet one's muscles and mind are relaxed.  It's not as easy as it might sound!  But when you get good at it, it can restore energy and boost mood and performance.

We invite you to use our Relaxation Room and also to visit the Counseling Center to learn more about relaxation.  We can help you learn various relaxation exercises or meditation to practice on your own and other wellness ideas to incorporate into your life.

In the Relaxation Room,  sit in our large recliner massage chair in a room with soft lighting and a small fountainwith water trickling over the stones.

Watch a dvd of calming nature scenes, listen to soothing music, and take a break from an overwhelming day. Meditate or unwind from the stress in your life.

In our Stress Reduction Room:

Use our biofeedback computer program to train yourself to reduce your stress. Practice yoga or tai chi.

Appointments may be necessary.  Each session in the Relaxation Room is limited to 30 minutes.
