Dr. Mildred Huff Ofosu
Assistant Vice President for Research Administration
Dr. Mildred Huff Ofosu has held the position of Assistant Vice President at Morgan State University for twelve years and has a total of 25 years in research administration. The unit in which she serves is Division of Research & Economic Development (DRED), which supports the institution's objectives in increasing extramural funding for research, focusing on compliance, enhancing the Universities' facilities, developing new academic programs, and training and educational activities. In DRED, Dr. Ofosu is administratively responsible for post-award administration, which includes budget oversight, research compliance, time and effort, processing contracts and subcontracts, compiling grant and contract metrics and business development.
Dr. Ofosu has served as a peer reviewer for NIH, USED and NSF. Most recently, Dr. Ofosu served as Chair of the Biomedical/Biobehavioral Research Administration Development (BRAD) Review Committee in 2012 and 2013. She is a frequent presenter at national meetings of a number of professional organizations, including Society of Research Administrators (former Board member), National Council of University Research Administrators, and National Sponsored Programs Administrators Alliance of HBCUs. Dr. Ofosu has several publications in her academic research area of Immunogenetics, as well as in Sponsored Programs Administration.
Dr. Ofosu was honored in June 2014 with a Distinguished Service Award at the National Sponsored Programs Administrators Alliance (NSPAA) 19th Annual Technical Assistance Workshop Series, in Charleston South Carolina. NSPAA's mission is to assist member institutions in the acquisition and management of external support. She is a Charter member and former president of NSPAA, and has served in several other official capacities. Dr. Ofosu has assisted with planning NSPAA's annual meetings since its inception in 1993, and is a member of its Board of Directors
