Robert M. Bell Center for Civil Rights in Education 
 Established in 2009 by Pres. Richardson to unite research, teaching, training & advocacy on civil rights issues in education.  Its first official act was to convene a two-day conference, which brought together nationally recognized leaders in the legal & educational fields for a national dialogue on Historically Black Colleges & Universities in the 21st Century. The Center's director is civil rights attorney Pace J. McConkie.

Founders Day Convocation 2013

On November 10, MSU hosted its annual Founder's Day convocation, with acclaimed civil rights activist and federal legislator John Lewis serving as the keynote speaker. The convocation engaged Morgan students and alumni to hear the voices of civil rights progress past and present, with a focus on the future of civil rights and activism in the United States.
