Department: Athletics
Duties: Assists the head coach in conducting intercollegiate sports; responsible for coaching the defensive backs and coordinates special teams; assists the defensive coordinator in recruiting qualified student-athletes; monitors the academic progress of student-athletes; assists in conducting practices and providing game strategies; assists in pre-season and off-season conditioning programs; assists in development of techniques and skills of the defensive tackles; conducts meetings with student-athletes and staff personnel; assists in providing guidance and strategy to staff and student-athletes during competition; responsible for the communication of the defensive scheme as viewed from the coaches area of the press box; interprets and communicates with staff and student-athletes the opponents offensive scheme; adheres to rules and regulations of the department, university and conference; assists in conducting home and away contests; accompanies student-athletes and related personnel to away contests; assists in preparing the team and facility; helps to develop the football camp; assists with administrative tasks; develops and maintains an offensive and Spring Practice playbook; maintains a defensive depth chart; develops for distribution a weekly scouting report; assists in dissecting and interpreting game film; and performs other duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, experience coaching on a NCAA Division I level football program.
Requirements: Knowledge of NCAA Division I football; knowledge of departmental, university, MEAC and NCAA rules and regulations; ability to work with students and possess strong interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
