Department: Office of Residence Life and Housing
Duties: Maintains and ensures that building interiors are clean, orderly and attractive in assigned areas, according to set tasks and frequencies; cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings, windows, tile fixtures, equipment, and floors, vacuums, dusts, and polishes specified areas and furnishings; sanitizes and disinfects bathroom areas; gathers and transports trash to the appropriate disposal location; removes trash; washes walls, doors and partitions; replenishes supplies in restrooms; shovels snow, removes ice and spreads snow/ice melting compounds; assists with MSU's recycling efforts by collecting items; inspects the physical conditions of assigned areas; submits requests to appropriate personnel regarding repairs, replacements, furnishings and relocation of equipment; requests cleaning materials and supplies for designated work areas; operates standard cleaning equipment; may drive a state-owned vehicle if eligible and qualified and performs other duties, as required.
Requirements: Ability to operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment; ability to work with chemicals and cleaning solutions; ability to understand and follow directions; ability to lift and transport supplies and refuse; ability to wear and work-in personal protective equipment; ability to work independently and as a member of a crew, depending upon specific services assigned.
Note: Must be available to work a flexible schedule including but not limited to evenings, weekends, holidays, and in the event of an emergent need.
