Department: School of Community Health and Policy
Duties: Directs the administrative functions of the undergraduate nursing program; develops a strategic plan for the program which is consistent with the strategic plan of the school; develops and maintains appropriate curricula and syllabi in baccalaureate nursing; develops and maintains relationships with clinical agencies which ensure appropriate learning experiences in clinical courses; collaborates with appropriate university programs to ensure recruitment and admission of appropriate nursing students; collaborates with appropriate university systems to ensure maximal retention of undergraduate students; oversees clinical scheduling of undergraduate students; ensures detailed evaluation of all clinical experiences; provides orientation of all new students and instructors; ensures appropriate counseling of all students; teaches at least one course per semester in baccalaureate nursing; evaluates instructors of baccalaureate nursing courses; ensures appropriate advisement of all undergraduate nursing students and performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Nursing. Five (5) years of experience directing a nursing program; Five (5) of experience teaching in Medical-Surgical, MCH, or Community Health Nursing; (5) years in academic administration nursing or five (5) years of clinical experience; a Maryland Registered Nurse License is required.
Requirements: Skill in teaching nursing using various methodologies; skill in supervising faculty and staff and in collaborating with faculty and university administration in the design, construction, implementation, and evaluation of nursing curricula and other scholarly efforts; ability to coordinate work with other departments of the university; ability to communicate effectively; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to operate a computer; ability to provide advice and guidance; ability to supervise.
