Department: Upward Bound Program
Duties: Performs a variety of professional and administrative task to provide encouragement for high school students who are low income and or potential first generation college graduates to complete high school and enroll and complete post- secondary education; provides support, guidance and direction to students in a variety of situations and environments; serves as chaperone for all program activities; provides and coordinates the after school tutoring program; advises students in the areas of admissions requirements, program requirements, admission status and the transfer of credit from other institutions; determines applicant eligibility through the interpretation and evaluation of test scores; maintains student academic files; serves a liaison between students and faculty in an attempt to equate and meet the needs of both groups; responds to request for information; assisting students and staff with research information verification and problem solving; advises students regarding course work needs in order to meet educational program requirements and achieve individual long term career goals; develops and implements SAT preparation workshop for program participants ; and performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Education, Counseling or a related field; 2 years working with middle or high school students. Maryland State issued Driver's License.
Requirements: Knowledge of TRIO programs and regulations; ability to maintain poise and courtesy under pressure; ability to train, supervise, and evaluate personnel; ability to communicate effectively both orally and written; ability to operate computers and other office equipment; ability to stand and walk on college visits; ability to work in Baltimore City public schools in Northeastern Baltimore City; ability work long hours including evenings, Saturdays to proven interpersonal skills ;
