Department: Global Studies

 

 

Duties: Provides clerical support to the Director and Assistant Director of the department; performs a variety of administrative duties in support of the office; screens and directs telephone calls appropriately; schedules, organizes and plans meetings; handles confidential matters as it relates to the office ; prepares travel requests, expense reports, purchasing card logs, and reimbursements; prioritizes work assignments and responds to requests for information and material; answers inquiries and resolves issues; maintains a large and complex filing and documentation system; records and disseminates minutes at meetings; compiles information from files, manuals or other sources of pertinent information; and performs other duties, as required.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Two years of office experience, which includes the production of documents using automated equipment and software. Demonstrated ability to type at least 45 wpm by completing the University's Clerical Skills Test.

Requirements: Knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment; knowledge of business English; excellent communication and customer service skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; skill in operating manual and automated office equipment; skill in maintaining clerical records; ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to interact with the public, employees, and students in a courteous and efficient manner at all times; ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with only general instructions; ability to create and work in spreadsheets.
