Morgan State University, designated as a public urban university, is one of the nation’s premier historically black institutions of higher education and one of the few offering a comprehensive range of programs, awarding degrees through the doctorate and having significant programs of research and public services. The University is located in northeastern Baltimore about 20 minutes from Baltimore’s famous Inner Harbor tourist and shopping center, and 50 minute from Washington, D.C. The University has a diverse student body of 8100 undergraduate including 1300 graduate students. Students enrolled at the University may pursue graduate studies in over 32 areas of concentration leading to degrees in Master of Architecture, Master of City and Regional Planning, Master of Landscape Architecture, Master of Public Health, Masters in Project Management, Masters in Bioinformatics and Master Social Work. Morgan State University also offers fifteen doctoral programs including degrees focused on Urban Educational Leaderships, Mathematics Education, Science Education, Engineering, Community College Leadership and Public Health with PhD Bioenvironmental Science, Business Administration, English, Higher Education, History, Industrial and Computational Mathematics, Psychometric, Nursing and Social Work.
The Position: In this role, the qualified applicant will serve as an advisor to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs on Assessment and Program Review. This individual will be primarily responsible for providing leadership and support in assessment, overseeing curriculum development; online courses, review for academic and research efforts, including active involvement in the development and implementation of assessment tools; and application of academic standards. He/She must be familiar with several comprehensive learning support programs including SmarThinking Online Tutoring, Plato Learning Systems, and Student Voice Campus Labs as well as Student surveying (NSSE, CIRP, CSS, etc), Standardized testing and annual program review process. She/he will coordinate all accreditation reports and activities; work with faculty and staff on institutional planning and effectiveness; assist with departmental accreditation initiatives; mentor faculty and staff on assessment best practices. The successful candidate must have a team approach to problem-solving and the communication, leadership, management, budgeting, and planning skills necessary to collaborate productively with staff, faculty, students and the University community.
Leadership: A proven track record of organizational leadership, assessment, distance education technology and the ability to work effectively within the University structure; ability to lead a diverse multidisciplinary faculty, and to develop mutually beneficial relationships within the broader community beyond the University.
Excellence in Management and Administrative Skills; a demonstrated ability for open and inclusive leadership and demonstrated team-building skills, with the ability to manage the necessary administrative support staff.
Qualifications: This position requires a doctoral degree in an appropriate area of specialization and effective leadership experience in an Academic Affairs administration position at the University Level.
The position will be available immediately. Salary will be competitive and commensurate will qualifications. The position is full-time 12 months.
