Department: Office of the General Counsel
Duties: Provides professional support to members of the President's staff in a number of technical and legal areas; reviews and drafts proposed contracts; prepares correspondence; conducts research; prepares material for the Office of the Attorney General; provides technical assistance to campus offices with respect to federal, state, municipal, and University regulations and policies; serves on advisory and search committees; represents the University in proceedings before federal and state agencies; provides guidance to paralegal staff; and performs other duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Juris Doctorate. Admitted to practice before the highest court of a state; Maryland Bar required within 12 months; Extensive experience in the above areas.
Requirements: Knowledge of constitutional law and education law; knowledge of contract review and negotiation; knowledge of personnel administration; skills in effective communication; skill in conducting legal research; ability to litigate or provide litigation support.
