Middle School Initaitives
Enrollment Outreach and Veteran Services establishes partnerships with area middle schools. The relationship a prospective student builds with colleges and universities early on is crucial in determining what choice is ranked above all others during his or her junior and senior high school years. This program brings middle school students to campus to assist in the students seeing college as a viable option for them; to familiarize them with the necessary academic and financial preparation they will need to successfully gain admission to college; and to cultivate them as future Morgan students by exposing them to our campus community.
The following is an outline for a College Gateway Partnership Program. For example, such a program would allow for Baltimore County Public Schools’ (BCPS) middle school students to visit Morgan State University’s campus, tour our facilities, be given firsthand experience at what college life is about, and what it takes to be admitted into such a prestigious University. Most importantly, such a program will begin to establish a relationship between Morgan State and area students, a relationship that will prove vital as these middle school students matriculate through high school and begin their college search.
Outlined below are the expected contributions needed from each component of this partnership in order to ensure the success of the program.
The anticipated commitments needed from Morgan’s administration to ensure the successful enactment of the Baltimore County College Gateway Partnership program are as follows:
-
The creation and full utilization of the Campus Pals Program*
- The availability of SMART classrooms
- Faculty presentations
- Career Development Lessons
- Campus Tours
- Identifiable lanyards, folders and pens distributed to all Partnership participants
