Division of Finance and Management

Design & Construction Management
The Department of Design and Construction Management, located in the
Montebello Complex, D-Wing - Room 312, is charged with the responsibility
of designing and managing all construction projects for the University
that take place on and off campus. This includes building renovations,
new building construction, site upgrades and any other capital improvements.
The department is instrumental in selecting and hiring all design teams
of architects, engineers and other consultants. These duties are carried
through the entire process of producing construction documents. The active
participation of the users of the affected facilities (faculty, staff,
students and others) is a vital component to this department's coordination
activities and is essential for ensuring constructive interactions between
the users and the design teams. Likewise, the Design and Construction
Management Department works closely with other University departments
to design, select and order furniture, art work and interior design elements.
Once the designs are complete, the Department of Design and Construction
Management, with the cooperation of the Procurement Department, bids and
awards all construction projects. A Project Manager, who will inspect
the construction and stay with the project from start to finish, is assigned
to each project.
The Department of Design and Construction Management keeps the University
community up-to-date on a project's progress. With assistance from the
Department of Communication and Public Relations, information is posted
about each project, including construction schedules, pedestrian or vehicular
detours and other items of general interest. In addition, a newsletter,
The Cornerstone, is distributed three times during the academic year that
will contain updates on current and future University projects.
Information concerning past, current or future projects may be obtained
by contacting the office directly. An update on Capital Projects can be
viewed on the web at www.morgan.edu/admin/Budg-Plng/capprjects.asp.
