Enrollment Management Services

Enrollment Management Services assists with creating the social, cultural, and academic environment at Morgan State University. We recruit students with different nationalities, various interests, and numerous personal and professional experiences. The diversity that is evident in our students is a reflection of the collaboration between the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment, the Office of Financial Aid, and the Office of Residence Life. All three of these offices are united together under Enrollment Management Services.

We believe our students are important, and we demonstrate this belief in our actions. Morgan State University takes a personal and academic interest in students. Our direct involvement with our students contributes to their present and future achievements. In addition, our scholarly reputation and the professional success of our graduates are only two of the many reasons that our students choose to attend the University. Since our students selected our University, we are committed to serving them.

Vision
Besides admitting students into the school, and providing housing and financial aid, we give our students a large amount of encouragement and support, which assist them with achieving their short and long term goals. We pride ourselves in being directly involved with our students and alumni. Because of our interaction with them, we are able to influence their growth and celebrate their accomplishments.

Enrollment Management Advisory Committee
The committee implements this vision by providing counsel and assistance in the strategic planning and assessment of our institutional processes for student recruitment, enrollment, retention, and matriculation. In addition, the committee examines all aspects of the student experience at Morgan and makes recommendations to enhance student life.

The Enrollment Management Advisory Committee Goals

1. To design more attractive options for prospective students with diverse academic preparedness, demographic characteristics and socio-economic background.
2. To establish easy navigation of the admission, financial aid and registration processes.
3. To provide a pleasant, supportive living and learning environment where students, faculty and staff enjoy mutual respect.
4. To create an excellent study environment for students; every facet of which is designed to support student success.
5. To provide graduates who are highly qualified for advanced study and/or professional endeavors the opportunities to achieve.

Purpose of Enrollment Services

Enrollment Management Paradigm

Enrollment management is a systematic, holistic, and integrated approach to achieving enrollment goals by exerting more control over those institutional factors that shape the size and characteristic of the student body. It includes activities associated with attracting and retaining students including marketing, recruitment, financial aid, orientation, advising and instruction. It also involves examining institution mission, program and service offerings, organizational structure, and resource allocation. The process relies heavily on the use of pertinent data and information for informed decision making.

University Mission Statement

Morgan State University is, by legislative stature, Maryland's public urban university. As such, it gives priority to addressing the needs of Maryland's urban population through academics, research and service programs. The University offers a comprehensive range of academic programs, awarding degrees from the baccalaureate to the doctorate. In the School of Business, Computer and Natural Sciences, Education and Urban Studies, Engineering and Liberal Arts much of the focus of varied research and public service programs that address issues, problems and opportunities surrounding on urban life and phenomena.

The campus serves an educationally, demographically and socio-economically diverse student body. It is committed to educating a culturally diverse population with a particular obligation to increasing the education of the African-Americans in underrepresented fields and at degree levels. It promotes economic development by meeting critical workforce needs and collaborating with business and industry. Morgan aspires to be a premier urban university.

The Office of Admissions recruits students who demonstrate an ability to excel in areas such as knowledge, research, service, arts, and sports. We help these students recognize the importance of being equipped with an education from Morgan State University. Furthermore, our admission counselors assist our prospective students with visualizing their success in various academic programs. Therefore, our students become graduates who have a clear understanding of how they will serve the world through their intellect and skill.

The Office of Financial Aid

The Office of Financial Aid ensures that our students are knowledgeable about how to finance their education. Financial Aid counselors create workshops that inform students about educational loans and grants. In addition, the office contains literature on local and national scholarships that will assist students with their independent search for school funding. We also assist parents and students with understanding how to obtain loans, create budgets for school, and manage personal monetary resources.

The Office of Residence Life at Morgan State University is responsible for creating a living environment that contributes to the students’ personal, social, and academic development. As a result, we shape our eight residence halls and our off campus apartment complexes into communities that meet the needs of our diverse population. We provide housing exclusively for freshmen, athletes, honor students, and upperclassmen. In addition, students are able to attend workshops that will assist them with achieving success inside and outside the classroom.
