The Office of Sponsored Programs and ResearchFaculty Research Profile: School of BusinessEARL G GRAVES SHOOL OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT Faculty Development: Dr. David Jacobs attended the Academy of Management Annual Conference in Atlanta. Dr. Leyland Lucas attended the University of Michigan Business School’s Managing in a Global Organization program. Dr. Emdad and Dean Thomas attended a joint meeting of a U.S. Department of Education and Lockheed-Martin MS2 to discuss partnership, grants, and feasibility of program offerings by MSU. September 22, 2006. Dr. Sanjay Bapna’s paper entitled “Wavelet-Based Approach to Preserve Privacy for Classification Mining,” was accepted for publication in the prestigious Decision Sciences Journal, Vol. 37, Issue 4. Dr. Sanjay Bapna’s article entitled ”Navigation Rules for Exploring Large Multidimensional Data Cubes,” was published in International Journal of Data Warehousing and Mining, October-December 2006, Vol. 2, No. 4. Dr. Bilal Makkawi invited representatives from the United States Army Audit Agency to speak in his auditing class during the month of September. Hospitality Management:
CARMA: Faculty and Ph.D. students attended Center for Advancement of Research Methods and Analysis (CARMA) 2006-2007 Consortium Webcast Program. David Zoogah, contact person MBO’s 2006-07: Dean and Chair met with faculty to review and discuss MBO’s 2006-07. Faculty University Service: Dr. Nathan Austin and Dr. Darlington Richards were elected to represent the School of Business on the University Council. STUDENTS: INSS students attended the monthly dinner meeting of the AITP at Timonium Holiday Inn. September 21, 2006. INSS students attended the Diversity Job Fair featured as part of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Annual Conference (CBCF) in Washington, D.C. September 7, 8, 9. LaTorsha L. Hill, Diversity Recruiting Program Manager at IBM conducted an information session and discussed jobs and internships. September 28, 2006. Dan Noonan, IBM Global Business Services Senior Consultant was a guest speaker in Dr. Partha Mohapatra’s E-Business class. September 22, 2006. Finance Club. The finance club was reorganized and new officers selected by the finance majors. Dr. Tang is the faculty advisor for this club. He assisted with this reorganizing effort. I did not receive a monthly report from this club.
OTHER: Dr. Otis A Thomas served as Chair of the Peer Review Team for the Accreditation Review of Siena College September 25-28, 2006.
