The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research
A significant portion of the funds that the University uses to support research, enhance
its facilities, develop new academic programs, and undertake other developmental,
training and educational activities for the public good are derived
from extramural sources. The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research (OSPR)
has the primary administrative responsibility to provide needed services
and support in the University's efforts to obtain such external
funding.
The OSPR serves as the central coordinating unit for the University's
externally sponsored research activities and projects. The Office is
responsible for developing, sponsoring and coordinating all research
and research-related activities at the University. It assumes the initiative,
as well as assists faculty in the identification of potential funding
sources, program development of research proposals, and interaction
with program officers at sponsoring agencies. The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research processes, monitors, and facilitates the evaluation of all
sponsored research projects to ensure that all grants and contracts
are consistent with institutional goals, policies and procedures.
