Procedures for Applying

HOW DO I APPLY?

  1. Complete the FAFSA
    (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

  2. Verification Form & Federal Income Tax Records (if applicable)
    • Independent
    • Dependent
  3. Check Award Status (WebSIS - Student Information System)
  4. Applying for a Parent Loan or Alternative Loan
  5. Direct Student Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) (www.dlenote.ed.gov)

SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS STANDARD (SAPS)

  • Financial Aid Probation Procedures - See university manual

  • Financial Aid Appeal Form can be obtained by visiting the Financial Aid Office.

  • For Fall Semester Financial Aid consideration, Financial Aid Appeal Forms should be submitted to the Financial Aid Office at the end of each semester.

Priority Dates

First consideration for aid will be given to eligible students whose completed applications have been received by the following dates:

  • Feb 15 Fall Semester
  • Nov 1 Spring Semester*
  • May 1 Summer Session*
* Applicants for Spring Semester and Summer Session will be evaluated based on the availability of funds!

Academic Competitive Grant (ACG)

  • REQUIREMENTS
    • U.S. CITIZEN
    • FEDERAL PELL RECIPIENT
    • ENROLLED AS A FULLTIME STUDENT IN AN ELIGIBLE PROGRAM OF STUDY
    • NO SPECIFIC MAJOR REQUIRED
    • 1st year students must have graduated after 1/1/06 and not previously enrolled in an undergraduate program
    • 2nd year students must have graduated after 1/1/05 and have a 3.0 GPA in an eligible program
  • REQUIRES COMPLETION OF A RIGOROUS H.S. CURRICULUM
    • Completion of at least two advanced placement courses with a passing test score of 3 or two International Baccalaureate courses with a passing test score of 4.
    • OR Completion of
      • 4 YEARS OF ENGLISH
      • 3 YEARS OF SCIENCE
      • 3 YEARS OF MATH
      • 3 YEARS OF SOCIAL STUDIES
      • 1 YEAR OF A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
    • OR Completion of
      • State Scholars Initiative
        • An advanced or honors secondary Program established by the state and in existence for the 04/05 or 05/06 academic year

  • $750 MAX AWARD IN FIRST YEAR
  • $1300 MAX AWARD IN SECOND YEAR

  • REQUIREMENTS

    • TECHNOLOGY
    • LIFE SCIENCES
    • MATHEMATICS
    • PHYSICAL SCIENCES
    • DESIGNATED FOREIGN LANGUAGES

SMART GRANTS AWARD AMOUNTS

  • $4000 IN THIRD YEAR
  • $4000 IN FOURTH YEAR

SMART grant recipients do not need to contact the office of financial aid as we will locate all eligible students and notify them in writing.
