The Business
Services and Auxiliary Enterprises Department manages the University's
Bear Necessity Card Program, Bookstore,
Dining and Catering Services, Insurance
Program, Parking, Shuttle
Services, Print Shop and Vending
Services. The administrative office is located in the Montebello Complex,
D-Wing - Room 201.
Bear
Necessity Card (BNC)
All Morgan State University employees must retain on their person a valid
University Identification Card (BNC) when conducting University business.
Employees must present their Bear Necessity Card upon request to utilize
University services. In addition to serving as an ID card, the BNC can
be used as a Debit Card to make purchases on campus. Once a BNC account
is established and funds have been deposited into it, students, faculty
and staff need not use cash for University goods and services.
Bear Necessity Cards are issued at the time of employment at no charge.
While damaged cards will be replaced free of charge, there is a charge
($25.00) for the replacement of lost cards. Bear Necessity Card processing
takes place at the BNC Center, which is located in the Montebello Complex,
D-Wing - Room 128. Persons possessing a BNC must surrender it to the University
Police Department at the time employment is terminated.

Shuttle
Services
The day-to-day operations for the Inter-Campus Shuttle Program are managed
by the Bear Necessity Card Center. The program provides transportation
for the University community throughout the campus to include stops at
O'Connell Hall, McKeldin Center, Engineering, Northwood Apartments (leased
by the University) and Rawlings Dining Hall. Dedicated or express services
are provided between McKeldin and the Montebello Complex and Northwood
Apartments. The utilization of MSU shuttle buses is operated on a "demand"
basis and may be discontinued at any time, routes are subject to change.
Shuttle services are limited to campus destinations only, with the exception
of residential properties leased by the University. Requests for use of
buses for University-related activities should be directed to the Motor
Pool Office.

Bookstore
The Morgan State University Bookstore is located on the lower level of
the McKeldin Center. Normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday
from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with expanded hours of operation during registration
periods.
In addition to textbooks (new and used), the Bookstore provides a large
number of convenience supplies and sundry items. Fashionable leisure wear
bearing the Morgan logo, as well as a large variety of fraternity and
sorority paraphernalia are also sold. The Bookstore also distributes a
Gift Catalog that contains a wide range of mail-ordered gift ideas. Additionally,
the "marketplace" section offers beverages, convenience food
items and toiletries.
The Bookstore offers a textbook buy-back service at the end of the Fall
and Spring semesters. Students can receive up to fifty percent of the
retail sales price for textbooks deemed usable for the following semester.

Dining
Services
The University's Dining Service is located in the Howard P. Rawlings Residence
Hall. While this dining hall primarily serves residential students and
commuting students, faculty and staff are encouraged to utilize this facility
as well. Meals are offered at very reasonable prices and meals are both
varied and well prepared.

Meal plans
are mandatory for resident students and are optional for other students
living off-campus. University students have three meal plan options from
which to choose from: 19 meal, 14 meal, or 10 meal. The 10 meal plan is
available only to Argonne residents and off-campus students. Commuter
students may select any meal plan option or 60 meals per semester.
A "Dining at Morgan" brochure, providing more information about
the University's meal plans, is available at the Rawlings Dining facility.
The
Canteen
In the Canteen, the University's Dining Service also offers a "la
carte" food selection for students, faculty and staff, to include
popular branded concepts such as SUBWAY deli, Chick-fil-A and Krispy Kreme
donuts. The Canteen is located on the second floor of the McKeldin Center
and its hours of operation are as follows:

Students,
faculty and staff can use their Bear Necessity Card to make Canteen purchases.
Any purchase that exceeds the available balance in the BNC can be paid
for in cash.
The
Helen Roberts Faculty/Staff Dining Room
The re-opening
of the Helen Roberts Faculty/Staff Dining Room is the culmination of a
long and patient wait. It is a place of retreat where for a few brief
minutes; faculty and staff can enjoy a delicious meal in a tranquil setting.
Although nestled in an out-of-the-ordinary environment, the location boasts
one of the most breathtaking views of the campus.
Named appropriately
after Helen Mom Roberts, former Dean of Food Services and
a highly respected chef, the dining room speaks to the legacy of love
and commitment which she fostered. Not only will the Helen Roberts Dining
Room provide a brief respite with affordable prices and culinary delights,
as a unique added feature, you will also be able to enjoy glimpses of
Morgans art collection as it is displayed on a rotating basis.
You will
be able to enjoy lunch Monday through Friday from the hours 11:00 a.m.
to 2:00 p.m. The Dining Room is located on the 4th floor of Spencer Hall.
The best access route is the elevator from the first or ground floor of
Spencer Hall to the fourth floor.
You will
be able to use cash, VISA, Master Card and the official University Bear
Necessity Card, when it is used as a debit card.

Other
Exciting Retail Operations
The C-Store or Convenience Store, located in the lobby of Blount Residential
Towers, offers a variety of convenient food items such as pizza, fresh
salads, Jamaican meat pies, hot dogs and pre-packaged foods. "Grab-n-go"
breakfast and lunch items can be purchased from kiosks located in the
lobbies of the Montebello Complex and Schaefer Engineering Building.
Catering
Services
Morgan State University, through a University contractor, offers catering
services for University and/or private functions at very competitive prices.
All catering functions are coordinated through the University Reservationist
in the McKeldin Center, Room 310.
Any catering activity that utilizes University funds must be scheduled
2-3 weeks in advance to provide sufficient time to obtain proper approval.
As applicable, please provide one of the following to the McKeldin Center
Fiscal Office:

Catering
services will not be provided until one of the aforementioned approved
documents has been provided.
Please note that, in general, expenditures to provide meals to State employees
during normal working hours are prohibited.

University
Insurance Program
The State of Maryland provides insurance protection for Morgan State University
employees who are involved in accidents while carrying out their duties
as State employees. Such coverage includes personal liability, automobile
insurance, fidelity bonding and various other coverage. State insurance
does not provide coverage for theft of State or personal property of employees,
guests or students.
Persons involved in accidents with a University vehicle while conducting
University business should contact the University Motor Pool. A formal
report (FS-1) must be completed immediately upon return to the campus
and submitted to the Motor Pool Supervisor. If the incident occurred after
regular working hours, the University Police Department should be contacted.
Persons involved in job-related injuries should see the Human Resources
section of this brochure.
Insurance
programs, with the exception of Student Health Insurance, are administered
by the University Business Manager who serves as liaison with the State
Treasurer's Office - Insurance Division. Please direct all insurance inquires
to Business Services and Auxiliary Enterprises.

Print
Shop
The University Print Shop is located on the lower level of the Montebello
Complex, C-Wing - Room C-04. This department endeavors to provide quality
duplicating services at the most economical cost.

The University
Print Shop offers the following services: Copying, Desktop Publishing,
Offsetting, Collating, Stapling, Folding, Cutting, Hole Drilling, and
Binding. Additionally, the Print Shop can provide carbonless forms, tickets
(numbered), color ink and pads (minimum quantities required for these
services) and color copying and proofing.
The Print Shop also provides a "While U Wait" service (1-10
copies with no more than 4 originals) or Quick Copy Service (3-hour turn
around for 1-500 copies of one original, or up to 20 copies of work containing
no more than 20 originals).
The services provided by the University Print Shop are for University
business only. No personal work will be accepted. Print Shop charges will
be assessed to the budgetary account of the department to which services
are being rendered. A SRF 2 Form (Request for Encumbrance) must be processed
through the University Comptroller's Office and approved before duplicating
services can be provided. Thus, for efficient and convenient service,
the department/division must encumber funds in the amount of their annual
estimated expenditures from their departmental budget for duplicating
services.

Vending
Vending machines are located in buildings throughout the campus for the
use and convenience of the campus community and visitors. Any malfunctioning
machines should be reported to the Business and Auxiliary Services administrative
office.
