Dr. Brenda J. James has over 40 years of experience in education.  She holds graduate degrees from the University of Kansas in Special Education, The Ohio State University in Counselor Education and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from The Ohio State University.  Dr. James' professional career has been diverse.  Much of her early career was spent teaching special education.  She spent four years teaching at a Department of Defense sponsored school in Manama, Bahrain.  Dr. James has also taught remedial courses for the Navy, been an adjunct professor for the San Diego Community College District and San Diego State University and taught courses for incarcerated women through a program sponsored by Wilmington College in Ohio. 

Dr. James' scholarly interests focus on qualitative/quantitative studies which examine the characteristics of faculty who create inclusive teaching/learning environments, as well as the impact of service-learning on student achievement, the impact of race and culture in schools, the politics of corporate school reform and social justice education. 

While at Morgan State University, Dr. James continues to fulfill her passion by creating opportunities for students to obtain a post-secondary degree.
