The Pre-College Program is designed to ease the transition from high school to college for students whose academic profile and performance suggest the need for early intervention to improve their potential for success in college. These students must enroll and successfully complete the Pre-College/ Freshman Studies Program in sequence. The program is designed to do the following: (1) strengthen the student’s background in English, Mathematics, and Reading Comprehension/ Vocabulary development and (2) introduce students to the expectations and requirements of college. This program is offered for a six-week period during the summer.

Students in the Pre-College Program take the following courses:

ENGL 001 Basic Composition 0 Credits
DVRD 001 Fundamentals of Reading 0 Credits
MATH 001 Fundamentals of Mathematics 0 Credits
Fees

There is no cost for students who are residents of the State of Maryland. Non-Maryland residents will be charged room, board, and fees based on the cost for the given term.

Reguirements

Students in the Pre-College Program must agree to meet the following standards:

  • Attend all scheduled summer Pre-College classes and all sponsored activities
  • Complete all required assignments of the Pre-College courses
  • Earn a grade of “C” or better in all of the required courses
  • Participate in all scheduled seminars
