Dr. Robinson received her Ph.D. in Endocrinology/ Cell Biology at Howard University in Washington, D.C in 1979. She pursued two years of postdoctoral studies at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN and one year of postdoctoral studies at the Laboratory of Chemistry at NIDDK, NIH. Subsequent to this training, she taught and conducted extramurally funded research as Assistant Professor at North Carolina A&T State University from 1983-1989; as Associate Professor of Pharmacology at Xavier University of Louisiana from 1989 to 1993; and as Professor and Chairperson of Biology at Morgan State University from 1993 to 1998. From 1998 to June 2004, she served as Professor and Dean of the School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences, Morgan State University and from July 1 to the Present as Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs at Morgan State University. Throughout her academic career, Dr. Robinson has trained several postdoctoral fellows, Master’s and Undergraduate students in the research laboratory and has received numerous grant awards (RCMI; RIMI; MARC; BRIDGES; MBRS; NSF; and K.14 awards). During her tenure at Morgan, she was awarded the Outstanding Chairperson Award and the Outstanding Award in Grantsmanship at Morgan State University. She was honored as the Most Distinguished Ph.D. Alumnus at Howard University and was the recipient of the Minority Access 2001 National Role Model Award and received the 2003 Woman of the Year award from the American Bibliographic Institute. Presently, Dr. Robinson serves as a member of the National Advisory General Medical Sciences Council for the National Institute for General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) at the National Institute of Health (NIH) and in the past, she has served as Consultant on the U.S. Army Science Board in which she provided counsel to the Secretary of the Army in the field of Science and related matters. Dr. Robinson currently holds membership in the American Society for Cell Biology, the Federation for the American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Society for In Vitro Biology, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) and the International Society for Who’s Who of Professionals. She also served as co-editor of the International Journal of Cellular and Molecular Biology.
