Information for Faculty
Creating an Online Course: Morgan is a member of Maryland Online, and uses the Quality Matters rubric as a guide for course development. To create an online course faculty must participate in the Online Course Design workshop, offered each semester. Courses must meet Quality Matters standards.
Online Certificates: If your department is creating a new certificate program, you must go through the MHEC approval process, as well as the Morgan State Curriculum Committee process, prior to developing any new courses. Existing courses may be converted to online courses, and must meet the standards of the QM rubric.
Scheduling an Online Course: All online courses should have WEB as the section designation, rather than a section number. If you have already submitted the schedule, contact the Registrar's Office to make any corrections.
Teach Online: This workshop, offered each semester, will provide you with the skills needed to teach an online course.
Copyright and Course Ownership: Currently all courses developed at Morgan State belong to the university.
Morgan's Learning Management System: Morgan uses Blackboard for all online courses. See our Blackboard page for details (including tutorials).
Maryland Online: Morgan is a member of Maryland Online, a consortium of MD schools that share online courses. Find out more about the Seat Bank.
