What is Morgan Online?

The Morgan Online, the Distance Education Program at Morgan State University, is coordinated by the Office of the Assistant Vice President for Assessment and Operations in conjunction with the Division of Planning and Technology, the Office of Professional and Continuing Studies, and the Distance Education Advisory Committee.  MORGAN ONLINE is a formal, planned and systematic distance eduction program (academic and non-credit).  The definition used for distance educationat Morgan is the one adopted by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in 2007:

Distance education is defined as a formal eduction process in which the majority of the instruction (interaction between students and instructors and among students) in a course occurs when students and instructors are not in the same place.  Instruction may be synchronous or asychronous. A distance education course may employ correspondence study, or audio, video, or computer technologies. A distinction is made here among traditional courses offered in classroom settings, traditional courses using a Blackboard site for course communication and materials, hybrid courses taught partially in the classroom and partially online, and distance education courses taught fully online in synchronous or asynchronous formats.
