The Graves School of Business &
Management (GSBM) Honors Program is the
school-level component of the Morgan State University Honors
Program.
The aim of the GSBM Program is to provide a
well-integrated, rigorous course of study with both academic and
experiential
components that prepare students to reach their potential as leaders in
outstanding organizations. This endeavor
is a step toward our goal of becoming a premier undergraduate
institution in
the region. The
foundation of the program rests upon our belief
that the success of our graduates is directly tied to their knowledge,
skills
and abilities in three key areas:
- Performance. We believe it is vital for students to have a
clear understanding of expectations regarding work, to focus
unrelentingly on exceeding those expectations, and to
consistently strive to raise performance standards.
- Leadership. We believe that students benefit from
approaching their tasks and duties from a leadership standpoint – as
one who solves rather than simply poses problems, accepts
responsibility and accountability readily, and who is resourceful,
articulate and forward-thinking. Regardless
of their ultimate career goals, we believe that "thinking like a
leader" prepares students to be active contributors to organizations.
- Service. We believe students learn from
helping others in and outside the School and University. Students
gain perspective on their lives, goals and dreams. They understand
themselves as part of a larger society, and they develop a greater
appreciation for their own skills and talents when they share their
knowledge and expertise with others.
