Funded Programs

 

 

*  Expanding the Educational Pipeline for Ethnic Minorities in the Biomedical Sciences (ETEP) Program represents a partnership between the Departments of Psychology at Morgan State University, University of Maryland at College Park, and Prince George Community College.  The American Psychological Association administers the Program, which is funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences.  The purpose is to increase the number of under-represented minorities to research opportunities and careers in the biomedical and behavioral sciences.  Students are provided research training and internships, strengthen written and oral presentation skills, and participate in scientific conferences.  Contact Dr. Pamela E. *  Prevention Science training Program in Mental Health provides educational and structured research experiences with the primary aim of moving students into advanced degree programs with a prevention science focus.  The program includes a) 2 academic research assistantships and field work, b) an 8-week summer research training experience, c) enhanced coursework, and d) career development and information dissemination.  The National Institute of Mental Health funds this training program.  Contact Dr. Warren Rhodes (443-885-3291 / wrhodes@moac.morgan.edu) or Dr. Jocelyn Turner-Musa (443-885-3061, jturnerm@morgan.edu).

 

*  Minority Mental Health Research Scholars Program (MMHRSP) is designed to enhance Morgan State University students' desire and ability to pursue mental health related research careers.  Students are exposed to: 1) an intense research based curriculum; 2) a host of supportive curricular activities; 3) a summer research training experience at various research institutions under the direction of faculty conducting mental health related research; and 4) a training experience whereby students participate as research assistants working on mental health related research under the direction of Morgan State University researchers or researches at other local universities.  Contact Dr. Warren Rhodes (443-885-3291 / wrhodes@moac.morgan.edu) or Dr. Terra Bowen-Reid (443-885-2728 / tbowen@morgan.edu).
