The field of psychology is not only interesting but is diverse. In understanding normal and abnormal behaviors, psychologists do so in a variety of environments and in many ways. Various areas in psychology are represented within subfields that include clinical / counseling psychology, social psychology, industrial /organizational psychology, neuroscience / physiological psychology, developmental / cognitive psychology, school / educational psychology, and health psychology. Graduates with degrees in psychology have worked in industry, the government, foundations, and other organizational settings, mental health settings, and academic and research environments. Morgan graduates have also used their degrees to pursue careers as medical doctors, lawyers, mental and public health providers, and entrepreneurs. Additionally, the Department of Psychology will provide a solid foundation and exceptional educational experience that emphasizes psychology as a scientific endeavor that seeks to understand behavior and mental processes in humans and animals and use the knowledge to make a difference in improving the human condition.
Departmental Objectives.
Provide a curriculum that is designed to secure for the student an understanding of the field of psychology as a science through courses and research experiences;
Develop a broad foundation necessary for graduate studies or possible employment, in those areas that may require undergraduate training in psychology;
Enhance undergraduate experiences in psychology through internship and research programs designed to make practical and relevant the theoretical background obtained from courses;
Serve a variety of curricula offerings that fulfill the liberal arts emphasis of the University and support the objectives of other programs.
