SEP Workshops
The purposes of the academic workshops are to enhance students thinking, reasoning, and application skills for overall academic success using real life experiences.
The Student Enrichment Program holds two kinds of workshops: Meet and Greet Workshops and Survival Bootcamp 101. The purpose of these “Meet and Greet” Workshops is to encourage participants to meet each other and discuss concern with administrations and others students. This interactive meeting of the minds serves to address the needs and concerns of the students. A diverse panel of administrators and students discuss issues, answers question, and provides information critical to the students’ success. The purposes of the academic workshops are to enhance students thinking, reasoning, and skills application in a manner that leads to overall academic success using real life experiences.
In the Survival Bootcamp 101 Workshops, students apply a learned skill-set of thinking to sharpen their abilities in reading, memorizations, and concentration. The Survival Boot Camp 101 Workshop Series consists of a four-part series which examines confidence-building, critical thinking, time management, and planning. Each session in the series is designed to build upon other sessions. The Survival Bootcamp Workshops consist of four parts.
-
Confidence Revitalization: The first workshop, “Confidence Revitalization,” offers a self-confidence boost. It provides techniques and ideas that help students in their transition from high school to Morgan student life.
-
Critical Thinking Rationale: The second workshops, “Critical Thinking and Rational,” integrates the “how to” factor be encouraging students to use the strengths and weaknesses of their real life situations to enhance their thinking, reasoning, and application of skills for overall academic success.
-
Strategically manage your time: the third workshop in the series, “Strategic Time Management,” takes a new approach to an old-time management model. Students learn how to best manage their time with the help of technology. Students learn how to modernize and adapt old time-management techniques and models to modern-day needs.
-
Plan execute and take over: The final workshop in this series, “Plan-Execute-Take Over,” teaches students how to best set their goals and develop a plan for achieving them, execute their strategies for achieving the goals, and ultimately follow through on their plan. Students will learn the logistics of planning, executing, and ultimately taking the proper channels to complete a task.
