Shelia A. Richburg, a native of Baltimore, MD received her BS in degree in Biology from Morgan State University and a MA degree in Management from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. Ms. Richburg is prided with the ability to successfully adapt to various work environments and to transition as well as apply her professional experience and skills to meet specific institutional and organizational goals.
MS. Richburg began her professional career as a bench scientist at Becton Dickinson Microbiology Systems located in Hunt Valley, Maryland. After many years in industry, Ms. Richburg currently has nearly a decade of experience in higher education, previously holding positions at the University of Maryland, College Park, University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute and Coppin State University.
Most recently, Ms. Richburg served as the Coordinator of Employer and Campus Relations for Career Communications Group, Inc. (CCG) responsible for diversity talent management for students majoring in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields. She was also instrumental in the origination of CCG’s Development Institute for Emerging Leaders (DIEL), a personal and professional student leadership program designed to provide students with various skill sets needed to successfully enter the workforce.
Ms. Richburg is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, and her professional affiliations include:
- National Academic Advising Association (NACADA)
- National Association of Multicultural Engineering Program Advocates (NAMEPA)
- Women in Engineering Program Advocates (WEPAN)
Ms. Richburg is credited with the proven ability to build strong relationships with employers, colleagues, students, the public, other professionals in government, academic and corporate environments. She further believes that her skills as an effective communicator, and a real “knack” for understanding and working with people, have become her greatest and most rewarding strengths.
