AIAS-American Institute of Architecture Students
The mission of AIAS is to promote excellence in architecture education, training and practice. We celebrate our membership in several ways. Members of the AIAS have the opportunity to have their work published in Crit, Journal of the AIAS the only international journal devoted to the work and critical thoughts of architecture students. ASLA-American Society of Landscape Architects

Morgan City & Regional Planning SGA
The mission of the Morgan City & Regional Planning Student Government Association (CRP-SGA) is to provide an atmosphere of interaction and discussion among students, professors, alumni and city planning professionals. Our goal is to help promote students’ work and activities among the campus and as well to the larger planning community. We also hope to provide a strong connection to planning agencies and professional planners to help our students get further involved in planning as well as letting our presence be felt outside of campus.
NOMA-National Organization of Minority Architects
The purpose of the Morgan Chapter of NOMA (MSU-NOMA) is to foster communication and fellowship among minority students studying architecture and the related fields. Membership is open to all students who support the mission and purpose of the organization. For more information, go to www.noma.net

Student Retention Program
The mission of the Student Retention Program is to establish programs and activities aimed at creating and improving a quality environment for student life and learning at Morgan State University within the Institute of Architecture and Planning’s Architecture and Environmental Design Program (IAP-BSAED). The Student Retention Coordinator is responsible for monitoring students’ academic progress, transfer students’ evaluations, graduating seniors’ audits, and other student programs and activities. IAP Academic Support
The IAP provides tutorial services through the Student Retention Program for undergraduate students. Tutors cover the following courses/topics: concepts and theory of the built environment, communication skills, and history of the built environment. Tutors hours are posted at the beginning of each term. For more information about IAP Academic Support, please contact the Retention Coordinator, 443.885.4309.
Academic Advisement
Academic Advisement is an important component to the IAP programs. Students are assigned a faculty advisor once they have matriculated into the program. Academic advisors are knowledgeable of the curriculum, graduation requirements, and their respective field of study. Students should meet with their advisors regularly throughout the semester. If students have not been assigned or do not know their academic advisor, please contact your program coordinator.
Boost (Peer) Mentoring Program
The Morgan Chapter of National Organization of Minority Architects Students (MSUNOMA) sponsors our Boost Mentoring Program. The mission of the Boost Mentoring Program is to assist new students with the transition into Morgan State University and the Undergraduate Program. The role of the Boost Mentor is to promote academic excellence, introduce new students to our program’s policies and procedures, and encourage social interaction. Academic Enrichment Program
The Academic Enrichment Program, sponsored by the Office of Residence Life, offers tutorial/study sessions through workshops, seminars, individualized tutoring, and computer tutorial software. Tutoring schedules are available at the beginning of each academic semester. The program is open to all students enrolled in the University. Academic Development Center
The Academic Development Center coordinates the Tutoring Center for the campus. If students are having problems with their general education coursework, the Tutoring Center is an excellent resource. Peer Tutors are available from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. on weekdays to assist students in every subject area, especially Math and English composition. You can see tutors by walking in or by making an appointment. For more information about the various programs, please contact in New Communications Building 102, 443.885.3380.
Counseling Center
The Counseling Center provides a range of psychological and counseling services to meet the mental health and developmental needs of Morgan students. The Counseling Center helps students to define goals, make decisions, and solve problems related to personal, social, academic, and career concerns. Center for Career Development
The University Career Development Center provides technical assistance in Career Counseling and Guidance and Internship/ Career Support including:
- Resume writing/ content and design
- Letter writing skills
- Identifying seasonal, full-time, and part-time employment
- Identifying/ applying to graduate and professional schools

Scholarships
There are several scholarship opportunities for students at Morgan. Under the University Honors Program, there are five (5) scholarships available: Gateway Scholarship, Chair’s Scholarship, Dean’s Scholarship, Regent’s Scholarship, and University Incentive Award.
