Honor Societies

There are many honor societies at the University that recognize academic and professional accomplishments. You should consult your department and your college/ school/ institute for more information about honor societies affiliated with your major. We advise the honor societies listed below.

You qualify for membership in this Honor society if you meet all of the criteria below.

  1. Have completed less than twelve (12) hours of college credits prior to matriculating at Morgan;
  2. Have earned a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher in fifteen (15) semester hours of computable grades at the end of your first semester or a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher in 30 hours of computable credits at the end of your first two semesters; and
  3. Have earned no grade less than “C” in any course at Morgan.

The induction ceremony traditionally takes place during the spring semester. As a result, students who were enrolled and met the criteria for induction in the prior fall semester will be contacted and invited for membership via their permanent mailing address and university e-mail address. Phi Eta Sigma Freshman Scholastic Honor Society
image of Phi Eta Sigma Freshman Scholastic Honor Society shieldYou qualify for membership if you are a freshman that has earned a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher while completing at least twelve (12) credit hours at Morgan. The induction ceremony traditionally takes place during the spring semester. As a result, students who were enrolled and met the criteria for induction in the prior fall semester will be contacted and invited for membership via their permanent mailing address and university e-mail address. You qualify for membership if you achieve a superior level of academic performance during the first semester of your freshman year at Morgan. You must be registered for a course of study that leads to a bachelor’s degree and complete full-time study for the first semester or first year and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50. The induction ceremony traditionally takes place during the spring semester. As a result, students who were enrolled and met the criteria for induction in the prior fall semester will be contacted and invited for membership via their permanent mailing address and university e-mail address. Golden Key International Honour Society

You qualify for membership if you are classified as a junior or senior, have earned at least 24 credits at Morgan, have a cumulative academic GPA that is in the top 15% of the combined junior and senior class while having NEVER earned a grade less than “C” at Morgan (including grades of “FL” and “I”). The cumulative GPA for the top 15% will vary each year depending on the caliber of students. In the past, the GPA has been an average of 3.50 or higher. The induction ceremony traditionally takes place during the fall semester. As a result, students who were enrolled and met the criteria for induction at the end of the prior spring semester will be contacted and invited for membership via their permanent mailing address and university e-mail address.
