Improved Opportunities for Parents (IOP) Program
The IOP program is designed to assist individuals, especially parents, in obtaining a bachelor's degree by facilitating college matriculation for community residents who would not otherwise pursue a bachelor's degree. IOP is specifically designed to improve educational opportunities for economically disadvantaged participants, who reside in the State of Maryland. Upon completion of the program, recipients will enhance their employability, thereby resulting in self-sufficiency for themselves and their families.
IOP Rap Sessions
The Improved Opportunities for Parents (IOP) Rap Session is held each semester for students enrolled in the Program. Presenters, generally campus administrators, directors, and IOP graduates, share information and resource with participants. They encourage, motivate, and challenge the students to utilize campus resources and to continue on their educational journeys in pursuit of their degrees. Additionally, the students share their stories and exchange information to support one another other. The students leave the Rap sessions feeling inspired and better prepared to handle life's educational and personal challenges.
