Hurt Gymnasium
Located on the South Campus, Hurt Gymnasium, was originally built in
1952. Newly renovated for student recreational use, it contains a swimming
pool, basketball courts, dance studios, a fitness center, and spacious
locker rooms. This facility is named after Edward P. Hurt, whose 40 years
coaching career at Morgan began in 1929. His coaching responsibilities
included track and field, football, and basketball. In addition he served
as Athletic director. During his tenure Morgan athletic teams distinguished
themselves despite inadequate facilities and budgets.
