The Summer Academy of Mathematics and Science (SAMS) sponsored by the Morgan State University Actuarial Science Program is a six-week academic summer program designed primarily for students preparing to enter the 10th, 11th, or 12th grades as well as for high school graduates who have exceptional interests in attending university to pursue math- and science-based careers and the drive to increase their Mathematics, English and Computer Science skills. This summer approximately 30-35 students will be selected to receive innovative classroom instruction as well as hands-on experiences in Mathematics, English (critical reading and writing skills) and Computer Science as well as investigate various careers in the sciences.

REASONS TO APPLY

Student participants will:

  • Learn about the actuarial science career as well as other lucrative careers in mathematics and the natural sciences
  • Connect with professors and industry professionals that can offer invaluable advice about majors and careers.
  • Learn about various scholarship opportunities
  • Experience campus life
