Admission to the Nursing Program
Admission to the Undergraduate Nursing Program (BSN)
All students must first be admitted to Morgan State University prior to admission to the nursing program. Students will spend the first two years fullfilling general education and pre-professional studies required to meet the necessary prerequisites for the nursing program. Students should apply to the program after they have completed at least 42 credits of the necessary general education and pre-professional courses. Students must have a 2.75 cumulative average in prior course work in order to be admitted to the nursing program.
The Nursing Program admits students only in the fall semester. Admission requirements include:

Completion of all pre-professional courses prior to starting the nursing program

Overall GPA of 3.0 recommended for unconditional admission

Proof of Health Insurance/Immunizations for employment in healthcare field
Admission will be based primarily on GPA ranking. However, experience such as working as an LPN, CNA or GNA will also be considered. All students must first complete the admissions process for Morgan University prior to admission to the nursing program. Please indicate "Nursing" as your intended major on your application. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Admission Requirements
For unconditional admission, applicants must have an active RN license, have earned either a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on previous course work. Students with a undergraduate GPA between a 2.5 and 2.9 may be considered for conditional admission. Admission will be granted for either fall or spring semester and is based on the following requirements:

Interview with a member of the Nursing Program Admissions Committee.
- Three (3) letters of recommendation from practicing health and/or other professionals and academicians.

A current curriculum vitae

A one page essay describing the applicants' academic and professional plans and the reasons for selecting Morgan State University.

Official copies of transcripts from all graduate and undergraduate institutions attended.
