Biosketch, Academic, and Research Activities
Dr. Sheikhattari is a tenured Associate Professor at the Morgan State University School of Community Health and Policy and a faculty fellow with the Prevention Sciences Research Center. Dr. Sheikhattari has served as Co-Principal Investigator for the past five years in a Community Based Participatory Project aimed at reducing health disparities in tobacco use among residents of low-income urban communities. He has several years of experience working with national and international community-based health projects and has collaborated with global organizations such as International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and World Health Organization (WHO) as well as Iranian public health system and NGOs. Dr. Sheikhattari continued his education at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health as a Post Doctoral Fellow from 2003- 2005. His research areas are: community based participatory research; social network theory; nicotine dependence and substance abuse.
