In mid October, students and faculty from Morgan State University's Graduate Program in Landscape Architecture and Louisiana State University (LSU), teamed- up with artists from FOSAJ (Foundation Sant D'A Jakmel), a local artists cooperative based in Jacmel, Haiti; with the aim of producing a mural that reflected the laudable history of the city of Jacmel, as well as, re-envisioning the prospects for a new Jacmel that will emerge following the devastating earthquake of January 12, 2010.

The mural, to be exhibited on Morgan's campus later this year, will showcase the exquisite work of artists from FOSAJ, as well as the spirit of solidarity and cooperation with students from Morgan and LSU.

While in Haiti, teams comprised of Morgan and LSU students participated in a charrette for the redesign of Simon Bolivar Plaza, a site of considerable historical significance for the Haitian community. Additionally, teams produced conceptual drawings that addressed the environmental degradation of a ravine in the heart of Jacmel's Historic District.
