Dr. Anita Thesen

Lecturer-Music History, Flute

 

Anita Thesen is a member of the Concert Artists of Baltimore and a former member of the Maryland Philharmonic and Lancaster Symphonies.  She frequently performs with the Chesapeake Orchestra, and has also performed with many orchestras in the greater Baltimore region.  Dr. Thesen received her Masters degree (M.M.) and Doctoral degree (D.M.A.) from the Peabody Conservatory, where she was a music history graduate assistant and was awarded the Britten Johnson Memorial Flute Prize.  She won first place in the National Flute Association Orchestral Competition, and was a prize winner in the Washington Flute Society Young Artist Competition.  Her teachers include Robert Willoughby, Mark Sparks and Keith Underwood.  She is a former faculty member of Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA.  Dr. Thesen joined the Morgan State faculty in 1999.
