COMMUNICATION CONSULTANT/MEDIA SPECIALIST

Marco Merrick is a Baltimore native and has worked in the Baltimore/Washington area as a Media Consultant for several years. Currently, a Lecturer in Communication Studies at Morgan State University, he also has been Adjunct Communications Professor at Coppin State University. Marco has been Director of Communications & Education at the Maryland Department of Planning, Chief Deputy Register of Wills for Baltimore City, Unemployment Insurance Administrator and Communications Director in the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. As a media professional, he was Special Projects Producer for WJZ-TV Channel 13's "Eyewitness News," and producer for several programs, including "Square Off", "On Time", "People Are Talking", telethons and specials in Baltimore. He was Senior Associate Producer in programming at WBZ-TV in Boston. He produced and hosted a weekly public affairs radio show, "On the Pulse" on WCAO-AM "Heaven 600" for 18 years.

He presently chairs both the Board of Directors for the Maryland State Boychoir and the Bannister, Lewis, Tanner Circle for the Walters Art Museum. As a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Lambda Chapter, Marco is corresponding secretary and has been Associate Editor to the Sphinx, the fraternity's national publication, Founders' Day chairman, and a member of the Educational Activities Committee. Additionally, he has represented his chapter of Alpha as a reader to the students at Rosemont Elementary School and has received several awards for his dedication and commitment to the work of the fraternity. His organization memberships have included the Nathan Carter Foundation Board of Directors, President's Committee for the Morgan State University Choir, The Central Maryland Ecumenical Council's Board of Directors, the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland's Board of Directors and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's Community Outreach Committee.

Marco Merrick attends Douglas Memorial Community Church in Baltimore, serving as director/accompanist for the Inspirational Choir and a member of the Evangeline P. Mitchell Scholarship Committee.

The recipient of several awards, including an honorary Doctoral Degree in Sacred Music from Eastern Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, VA, Marco holds a Master of Arts degree in Publications Design from the University of Baltimore's School of Communications Design and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication from Towson University.
