About UHC
The University Health Center (UHC) is the student health center at Morgan State University. We are dedicated to providing efficient, quality care in a compassionate and understanding manner. Our mission is to ..."provide health care, health education, and to promote health and well-being..." for the student population of Morgan State University. Our services are designed to promote and protect the health of our campus as a whole so that our student body reaps the benefits of our efforts. UHC provides a variety of services from the administration of allergy and influenza shots to supporting the educational mission of the campus through our outreach efforts.
History
The building in which the University Health Center is housed is known as the Woolford Infirmary in honor of Harriet A. Woolford, a 1913 Morgan College graduate. Shortly after graduation, Ms. Woolford was employed as a teacher and dormitory matron at the Branch Preparatory School in Lynchburg, Virginia. In December 1917, a fire destroyed the school, but not before Ms. Woolford managed to save all of the students housed in the dormitory. Tragically, Ms. Woolford died after the fire. Morgan College recognized her heroism by naming its college infirmary in her honor.
