EMAIL INSTRUCTIONS FOR NEW STUDENTS
The 2010-2013 Morgan State University Academic Catalogs mandate that Morgan email use is required for all official, electronic University communication.  Each student, faculty, and staff is assigned a Morgan Network account.  The username and password for the Morgan Network will provide you with access to Morgan email, Blackboard, computers throughout campus, and the Morgan wireless network.  Follow the steps below to begin using your Morgan Network account today!   

1. Visit http://mail.morgan.edu.
2. Enter your username and initial password to sign in.
3. Read the “Welcome” email in your Inbox.
4. Set up security questions by visiting http://resetmypwd.morgan.edu. Select “My Security Questions” and follow the instructions.
5. After you set up your security questions, change your initial password by visiting http://resetmypwd.morgan.edu. Select “Change My Password” and follow the instructions.
6. Now begin using your Morgan email account regularly and share your address with faculty, friends, and family! 

The username and password for your Morgan Network account will not provide you with access to WebSIS.  (back to top)

EMAIL USERNAME
Your email username is the set of letters and number(s) before the “@” sign in your email address. For example, the user name for student99@morgan.edu would be student99. (back to top)

INITIAL EMAIL PASSWORD
Your initial password begins with a capital letter using the first 3 letters of your first name, the last 4 digits of your student ID, and the last 3 letters of your last name. See the chart below for examples.

ACCESSING MORGAN EMAIL
You may access your Morgan email account by visiting http://mail.morgan.edu or by selecting the "WEBMAIL" link found that the top of nearly all Morgan web site pages.

EMAIL ASSISTANCE
If you experience trouble with your Morgan email account (i.e., logging in or changing your password) and you've already created your security questions, visit http://resetmypwd.morgan.edu and follow the instructions.  If you have not already created your security questions, contact the HELP Desk on 443-885-4357 or at helpdesk@morgan.edu, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Students are strongly encouraged to establish their security questions so they can self-manage their email accounts.  (back to top)

BLACKBOARD
Blackboard is a web-based course management system used by most Morgan faculty to supplement their instruction. You can access Blackboard by visiting http://morgan.blackboard.com/ or selecting the “Blackboard” link at the top right corner of any page on the Morgan website. Your username and password for Blackboard is the same as your username and password for Morgan email, computer labs throughout campus, and the Morgan wireless network. (back to top)

WIRELESS NETWORK
Most buildings and some outdoor areas on campus are wireless. To connect to a Morgan wireless network, select "MSU Wireless" from the list of available networks.  Your username and password for the Morgan wireless network is the same as your username and password for Morgan email, Blackboard, and computer labs throughout campus.
