DepartmentOffice of Human Resources & Payroll

DutiesPerforms accounting clerical or bookkeeping tasks to support payroll and other accounting functions; verifies accuracy of data; reviews submitted timesheets and payroll extract reports for accuracy and proper authorization; calculates and post hours, paycheck amounts, and payroll exception amounts to the State's FMIS system, weekly; troubleshoots employee difficulties with the self-service system; updates employee reporting relationships using Native Banner; reviews check registers; performs reconciliations; provides information to employees regarding payroll transactions; provides accurate information concerning payroll issues to employees, supervisors, Central Payroll and Office of Human Resources personnel; makes decisions regarding payment to individuals for overtime; calculates overtime, back-pay etc.; and performs other duties, as required.

Minimum Qualifications:  High School Diploma or GED; Two years of accounting clerical experience, one year of which must have included payroll processing procedures;

Requirements:  Knowledge of bookkeeping principles, mathematical methods and techniques; knowledge of computers and financial software, manual and automated office equipment; skill in performing basic mathematical computations; skill in keyboarding;  skill in inputting data ability in the use of calculators; ability to communicate effectively; ability to calculate overtime; ability to prepare written records and reports.
