Mentorship Program:
The Bear Battalion pairs up cadets with both Alumni and other cadets to provide encouragement and counseling from a different perspective to assist them not only during college ROTC but afterward once they move on to their first duty assignment. Senior cadets provide insight to freshman and sophomore cadets so students don't just hear it from their instructors. Alumni include retired and active duty Army officers who share real life experience with cadets.
Ranger Challenge:
Each year, top cadets from around the country gather to compete in the
Army ROTC's varsity sport: Ranger Challenge. This voluntary competition
offers outstanding teamwork training while demanding your best physical
and mental efforts. Events include orienteering, in which teams use
land navigation skills to find 40 checkpoints over a four-square mile
course; constructing a one-rope bridge, in which teams cross a 40-foot
water obstacle using a single rope and plenty of ingenuity; weapons
assembly, grenade assault, a ten kilometer ruck march, and an Army Physical
Fitness Test. When this intensive 36-hour competition is over, every
participant feels like a winner. Our Ranger Challenge team also prepares the MSIII's (Junior Cadets) for the Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC).
Color
Guard: [top]
Morgan's Color Guard presents our National colors at all home football
and basketball games. In addition to their service to the Morgan community,
the "Bear Battalion" color guard has had the privilege of
performing at civic and athletic events throughout the state and surrounding
areas.
Drill Team:
For the last three decades, our drill team has been relentless in the
pursuit of perfection. Winning honors at competitions all across the
country, the legacy of our drill team is a key point of pride to the
cadre, cadets, and alumni of Morgan State's ROTC program.
National Society of Pershing Rifles:
Since its founding in 1894 by General John J. Pershing, the National
Society of Pershing Rifles has set a high standard of excellence for
the members of the ROTC program. Promoting a sense of camaraderie, fellowship,
and espirit de corps, the National Society of Pershing Rifles is an
fraternal organization that seeks only the "best of the best"
within the Bear Battalion.
National Society of Pershing Angels:
The National Society of Pershing Angels was founded here at Morgan
State University in 1965 by thirty young women who felt that their beliefs
in the ideals of sisterhood and citizenship would contribute to the
development of a civic organization that not only represents the womanhood
of the "Bear Battalion" but of Morgan State as well.
Cadet
Professional Development Training:
Cadet Professional Development Training (CPDT) offers cadets the opportunity
to train and further develop their officer potential at active Army
installations all around the world. Programs such as Cadet Troop Leadership
Training (CTLT), Northern Warfare School, Basic Airborne Training, and
Air Assault School, allow a cadet to gain valuable experience that will
be an asset in their future Army career.
